so ive been thinking is there a chance where if im anchored or drifting can I use the same transducer instead of the open water transducer when fishing out of a boat

Yes, depending on the type of boat yout have and for flooring, you can even put your transducer in a clear tupperware container with some water and it will shoot right thru your hull. Thats what I do with mine in a little 14′ crestliner, works slick up to about cruising speed then I get to much disturbance under the hull. You could try a container of water down in your bilge area?

Yes and no is the answer. If Justin’s idea works then you’re in business. Great idea by the way, I hadn’t thought of that waytogo

If you’re putting it over the side then it needs to stay vertical. If the boat is moving then it won’t be pointing straight down.

We did this a couple years back on a Canadian trip. When moving I just held it by hand in the water. Worked but colder water makes it a less than enjoyable idea. When anchored we played with it but wasn’t particularly useful.
