This is strictly a question born of curiosity. How large is the the flasher(Dia.) on the LX-7 when the flasher is the only screen up? The humminbird guys tend to go on and on about their giant flashers(rightfully so) but the LX-7 flasher looks gigantic in pictures. I am trying to talk myself out of buying an LX-7 because they are so expensive, but the more research I do the more I want one.

Joes in roseville has the lx7 for $650. I absolutely love mine! AND as for the size of the flasher, I wouldn’t even worry about it. You’ll find yourself using the chart mode more if you give it a chance.
December 23, 2014 at 2:50 pm #1487506the flasher dial is nice, but its old school…. the vertical graph rocks
December 23, 2014 at 3:20 pm #1487529I’m picking up what you guys are putting down and I would most likely run a split screen with the graph and a vertical bar. I was only asking because the curiosity is getting the best of me. The flasher looks hugenormusly large on the LX-7.
December 23, 2014 at 3:27 pm #1487532I can shoot a number when I get home and check I too run the split screen… cover top to bottom with the dial and target about 10 feet in the column where they are coming in at… the adjustments are endless.
Kent TauPosts: 205December 23, 2014 at 3:58 pm #1487556Kinda heavy for hole hopping. Overall a great unit in my experience. I use my vex flx 28 for hole hopping. I say just go the the store and physically pick one up to see weight differences
December 23, 2014 at 5:11 pm #1487588Lx7 is battery weight just like the rest. I hole hop all the time with mine. The soft pack is nice and has good handle for jumping around.

Um, you need to look closer. That’s a vex.
December 23, 2014 at 9:02 pm #1487699Flasher screen is totally old news. Never have used it on my LX6. I use the vertical screens only. IMO once you use a vertical screen you’ll NEVER go back.

Once you go black, you never go back. Vex I mean.
I’ll tell you that I used the verticle screen and preferred the flasher. Here’s why; say the vertical screen is 4″ of linear space on your led screen. Your flasher screen has a 4″ diameter which equals 6 1/4″ of linear space. This gives more separation making it more precise.
That’s my personal preference.
I don’t care what my wife says, size does matter.

I used to carry a Canon camera bag around with a nice Nikon in it. Cause who would steal a Canon, right? Same thing in the photo I guess. A Marcum prototype disguised in a Vex bag. Hah!

Sticking to your story even after the jig is up. That not only makes you a great fisherman, but a model American. God Bless you sir and you tall tales.
JD WinstonInactiveChanhassen, MNPosts: 899December 24, 2014 at 8:04 am #1487807And that’s the beauty of a Marcum. Push a button and Wa-La, you have a flasher screen.

I respectfully disagree with your math and here’s why – The lines on a Marcum are thinner than on a Vex, so, IMO you have more precision on the Marcum.

Digital technology is much better than mechanical technology.I made no mention of a vex. A round dial is referred to as a flasher.
With that said my math is still correct. Your verticle scale will always be smaller (shorter) than the round dial.
Did someone tape a piece of paper on my back with vexilar written on it?
I’m a Lowrance guy now!
December 24, 2014 at 8:43 am #1487830I apologize. My math was wrong.
If a flasher has a 4″ diameter, it would be equal to 12.5″ of linear scale, not 6.25″.
That only reinforces my point.
December 24, 2014 at 9:17 am #1487843some people are just old school… = dial. it had/has it’s place and it’s next to the vertical graph or off.
December 24, 2014 at 9:21 am #1487845Well you did say

December 24, 2014 at 1:43 pm #1487945I can definitely except that excuse, because its the one I use all the time.
That was a joke. Plus I was drunk. You can tell by the math.
