LX-7 firmware question

I downloaded the v4.07 firmware last year and have issues with screen freezing up on me. I know this is probably old news by now but is there any new solutions. I’ve been off the sight for a while. Maybe a new version coming out to fix this issue? Any ides would be great.
    Thank you, Ray

This is not a common issue at all. It is most likely isolated to your unit. First thing I would do is tighten all the cables going into your head unit. Check battery cables and make sure they are snug, if it persists and a different battery doesn’t fix the issue, give marcum customer service a ring. There’s an outside chance you may need your firmware re-patched too. To me, it sounds more like a battery issue.

What does it do exactly? I have had issues with my LX-7 in which the depth bounces around. It mostly happens in auto-range. When I switch to manual range, it seems to help. I have read that Marcum is working on an update to correct some issues. The main issue they are correcting is the problem some are having with not showing your jig the first 5 feet.

The problem happened after I did the update. My LX-7 also jumps around with the depth. It’s a real annoying when in the chart mode. The cables are fine I think it’s just a firmware issue and needs to be fixed by the company, just wondering if it was corrected since last winter.

It could very likely be a corrupted install. If so, contacting Marcum should get you in order.

Let us know what Marcum says. You have the update from 2014, same one I have. They’re supposedly coming out with a new update this month to correct some problems. All in all I love the lx7. Just annoying glitches from time to time, which shouldn’t happen with a $700 unit.

I too have had this same thing happen, mostly in the summer when i’m running the trolling motor ducer on my LX-7….I now NEVER run my unit in auto-range which seems to have fixed my freezing issues.

Now knowing that there might be a new fix on the way, I’ll wait. I really like using the auto range when hole hopping searching for fish. That being said, I’ll wait.

What voltage is the screen displaying? Modern electronics really like their power, when they don’t get enough, they can get a little flaky… something to check at least..with the amount of LX6/7/9 units out there, if there was a model wide problem, you would hear about it from alot more people..

Both units are brand new. Mine showed 12.9 down to 12.6v throughout the day/evening.

I can’t wait for this update. When I’m in shallow water my screen jumps all over the place. I have to go out and buy a different flasher just for shallow water.

No you wouldn’t. The LX7 base and case suck. Get a Genz Box instead.

I have the genz box, the HDS-8 is just too big for it.
