Hey guys I have a question. First time using my LX-7 since I updated and had issues with it reading only 1 cone angle just wondering if anyone else has had issues like that? Would prefer feedback from other Marcum owners. I know there are other brands out there and I don’t care if yours works fine. Thanks in advance!

The gain curve has been changed with the update. I assume you had trouble using to 20deg setting? I found it takes quite a bit more gain/sensitivity to read the 20deg. Don’t forget to try gain 1 and 2 and decide which one is best for the conditions at hand.

Yes it was with the 20 degree cone. Wasn’t ready anything. What you said makes sense. I will give that a try. Thanks!

Mine was the same way. Scared the heck out of me first time I had it out and tried 20 degree cone. It worked perfect using 8 degree. I was sorry I did the new update at first until I figured it out.

I talked with customer service and a starting point for sensitivity should be at 8 on the scale and then go up or down from there. If you go to marcum’s site and search changes it will bring up the changes that the last update dealt with. so with that being said I guess it is time to reintroduce myself to my flasher. He also said that having it on auto is like just a search mode and then start dailing it in from there using other settings within the range options. After talking with him it makes me excited to use it more and might act like I bought a new flasher

Is the “gain 1” the old open water mode and “gain 2” the old ice mode or the other way around. I see they switched the way it’s worded now.

    I believe so

I’m almost positive Gain 2 is Ice Mode and Gain 1 is Open Water Mode. I stopped in to MarCum last fall to have them update my firmware as I was having trouble on my computer, and if my memory serves me correctly that was the case.
