Hello everyone, longtime lurker first time poster. I bought a Lx-6 this past weekend and had the chance to use it on red lake yesterday. It simply worked awesome. I’ve ran vexilars since the early 90’s and I’m used to just turning the thing on and fishing. It took me some time to get dialed in. I’m just wondering if some of you guys could share your basic settings. Chart zoom was my favorite screen. How far in the water to you put the transducer?

    Thanks for your help.

Always put the transducer right below the ice! Glad you like your new unit!

I always run the transducer just below the hole, it ensures a clean sonar reading that is straight downward and also helps prevent fish from getting tangled in it to some extent.

rjthehunter is correct unless fishing shallow water some guys have said they just stick it in the top of the hole for that with limited thickness of ice.

I use the scrolling screen and both verticals. I usually fish species that like to stay tight to the bottom and with the scrolling graph you can see when they slide in. If you are using the seven color pallet you can make out there dorsal fins in blue.

Depends on the situation, and what I’m fishing. I like the chart zoom, veritical display, and vertical zoom.

When fishing suspended crappie, I liked having the flasher display, and vertical zoom.
