I was fishing in Florida and came across this lure on the east coast. I have no idea what brand it is or what model it is if anybody can enlighten me to what kind of lure this is so I can look it up online to see how it’s used. I know it’s a hard jerk type bait but I’m wondering what the whole in the bottom is for I cleaned it out it looks like you can add either air or some type of fluid to it. It has a clear rubber cap that goes over top of the hole. I’m including images. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you so much!

You sure the hole isn’t for adding weight?

One last thing there was no writing on the lure nothing on the lip and nothing on the body.

Possibly, I guess it could be a hole for weight but I don’t know how it would hold on to the weight since it’s just a hole and inside it looks like a metal circle kind of like what you would see on the bottom of a torch lighter like a refillable butane lighter. Any idea what the name of it is though or brand? Having the manufacturer’s name would definitely clear up the mystery of what the holes for.

It does kind of have a body like a Yozuri.

I have a few newer ones that have that arched shape body but I have never seen one with hole in it.

The more and more I look at it i think it is a yozuri inshore. I have friends that have lived in Florida there whole life and I sent the photos to them. Hopefully they will know. I had a old yozuri that had a plug to add bbs to make it rattle and add weight to make it suspend but a northern is the owner of that now.

I am guessing the hole is something for controlling buoyancy. There is probably a valve in the hole where water could be injected by using a special bottle that would have been provided with the bait.

I’m honestly leaning towards the whole idea that it might actually be some type of buoyancy lure maybe a prototype of a fishing company down here in Florida. A little bit more background I was lobster diving in the middle of the Sebastian Inlet probably around 18 or 20 ft deep this thing was stuck to a rock and I don’t know any lures with that short of a lip that could get down that deep. So, I’m starting to think it could be a buoyancy controlling device. I don’t think they’re out on the market yet cuz I’ve searched high and low for this exact lure and came up empty handed online. I did find a patent but it doesn’t look anything like it. I could see where somebody could take butane lighter technology and stick it into a lure. I’m very tempted now to saw the thing in half long ways but I’m kind of worried that it might blow up on me. If I do saw it I’ll post images here for everyone. I just want to wait and see if anyone claims this lure as their own before I damage it.
