Looking for a little help here. 1990 Lund Tyee 16.5 ft with inboard 4 cyl. that I fish in regularly. The console steering is really stiff and hard to turn. On cool mornings, it is hand over hand workout. Has anyone else had problems like this and what should I do? Any help would be appreciated.

My neighbor and I were having coffee a couple years back, I was complaining about the exact same thing on my boat. He looks back at the linkage and says “see that?”. He showed me where two grease zirks on the steering linkage were missing and where there should have been grease. Screwed two new zirks in and greased it, perfect! Not sure why they were missing (never installed at all), but a whole different steering experience now.

I honestly wouldn’t know on an IB, I guess I’d just look where they would make sense to be on the linkage? Sorry!

Installed the Cable Buddy. Did not help very much at all. I suppose this means it needs a new steering cable?
