I am getting a new 1725 Explorer with a 115 Opti. I want to buy a stainless prop for it. Anybody know what would be my best bet? Pitch, tempest, trophy, fury? I’ll be carrying a fairly heavy load, probably 3 people and lots of gear. Thanks.

It’s hard to guess but my best guess is to start with a 19-21 inch Tempest and see if that keeps you in your ideal rpm range. Heavy load…… start with the 19.

May cost a little more to work with dealer. But some will let you try one and trade for another if it’s not right, if you stay out of the rocks Lund-Merc.dealer should have a good guess.

The tempest props seem to work the best on merc powered lunds. I am guessing a 17-19 degree will be close. I just lake tested the same rig. I believe I had a 19 degree aluminum.

Thanks guys. It comes with a 19 pitch aluminum, so guess I’ll start with the same size in stainless.

Tempest will not fit that motor, To get the right ss prop you’ll have to run that 19 pitch aluminum and report back with your WOT rpms and the speed and then can suggest the best ss prop for you. I your going to carry lots of weight all the time a 4 blade will be the best.

It would pay to go ask your dealer that you are working with if you could try some props before you buy. The Mercury website does have a prop selector help page so you can get it close to one you need. I would stick with a 3 blade over the 4 blade. A laser 11 prop would be the best bet to try first. Thanks again guys. I’ll test drive it with the aluminum and see what the speed and rpm’s are and will report back. I was hoping I would get some responses from someone who runs the same set-up and find out what they have on.
