I have a newer Lund Explorer SS and it has a locking rod locker on the passenger side. The lock/handle looks like a “T” bar that turns to open. The problem I have is even when locked it takes minimal effort to turn the handle to open the rod locker. Anyone else have this issue and have you been able to address it?

Could it be a loose “foot” on the inside of lock and that the lock is turning in the hole? (A lot of locks have a threaded portion that a “foot” screws onto that pinches against the compartment lid to hold the lock in place. There should also be a nut to keep that from loosening.)

Otherwise, maybe a set screw that’s loose?

The locks on most boat’s compartments are not much more secure than duct tape would be, but they’re better than nothing…

    Good luck.
