1994 Lund explorer rod holders

I was wondering on how I would mount my rod holders on a 16ft Lund explorer. I would like any one opinions and pictures would be great.

Then you can move it around where you need it and you dont need to drill any holes in the side of your boat.

I think I have the same boat as you. I bought every type of clamp on I could find and none of them fit the gunnel well. Ended up going with a standard side mount and drilling a few holes into the boat. Works well.

Yea i might have to do that i was thinking the ram style that extends up.

Did you put any sealant around the holes after. Also how far apart did you space your rod holders?

Spacing might be different depending on how many setups you plan on using, longer rods and shorter, and when spacing them I would recommend putting some tape where you think you might want them and running it for a trip or two to see how they would feel. I still haven’t mounted my holders on my boat yet and glad I didn’t BC what I thought was going to be good in my driveway wouldn’t have worked out that well on the water.

Fasteners are stainless bolts and washers, nylon lock nuts if it’s going to see water at all especially in the transom and anything mounted flat on the deck gets marine grade silicone through the entire hole that way when the bolt/screw gets tightened it will come out both ends, might be overkill but makes me feel good.

I have the exact same boat and I use Down East Salty clamp ons. I troll for muskie a lot so I got the double clamp models. Works great!

If it were me doing it on another boat I would definitely go with the Folbe Jr rod holders and not look back !

I run 6 of these on my 1990 Lund rebel and they are great ! easy in and out ! The standard riser that comes with them will work on your boat but I spent the $$ and added the longer riser.

I have the same boat and used the flush mount cabelas rod holders. They look nice and you just pop the cap off and slide them in and you’re ready to rock.

I have downeast mounted on tracks. Very easy to use. The clamp on salty’s are very secure. Take a look at them and see if they will work for your situation.
