17′ Explorer SS. I doubt that matters, but…

The horn went out last year. I hit the switch and it clicks and blows the 3 amp fuse. I have replaced the horn, replaced the switch, checked for nicks in the wiring, and have checked that there is current going thru the wiring to the connections. Anyone see this and have any suggestions on where to look next?

hmm…I wonder if just the fuse is too small. Ill check what size mine is when I get home tonight.

Mine is a 5 amp as well in my 1700 explorer. I’d give a bigger fuse a try.

Thanks guys. I will try a 5 amp. I have replaced the horn and the switch, but the new horn could be bad. personally I don’t care if it works. It’s emitted a pretty pathetic honk, but I’m sure by law I need a working one. The whistle in my boat makes a louder and a better noise.

I bought one that I blow into on one end and the very loud noise comes out the other end. “I’m very legal”!

No luck. I finally found a fuse big enough not to blow. A 15 amp. So I hooked a meter up (forgot I had one) and found that it is drawing 12-13 amps. Now I’m realy lost on how to fix. I’m sure that amount of amperage is the reason the horn just “burps”. Any help from anyone would be appreciated. Back to looking at wires.

Check out the wire connection properly.
