I think the old war horse is ready for another season. The floor had a couple of soft spots. I took it down to Shakopee Marine and I’m very happy with the job they did. All new wood and carpet, new stainless hardware for the seat bases, etc. I still find myself dancing around the spots where the problems were, it’s going to take a while to get used to the new floor.
I also upgraded to a two channel on board charger. The side compartments on my 1990 Lund Predator are supposed to be rod lockers. That might have been true 25 years ago with 5 foot rods but nothing I use fits in there. I decided I would modify the rod holder hardware and mount the charger in there. I cut down the rubber rod holders and moved the brackets closer together. The mounts are plenty strong but also have a little bit of “give” to them like a shock mount. I had to extend the battery cables but that was no big deal. Dressing all those wires out of the way took a lot longer than I had planned on. It turned into a job but I’m glad I did it this way. Now I’ll have both batteries ready to go every time I pull the boat out of the garage.
