new boat

I have been away from fishing for 40 years–getting ready to buy a new boat. Looking at either a lund crossover or a alumacraft trophy. Each would have a 150 hp. I will be fishing the Mississippi for walleyes mostly. Do I need a pro kicker???? I would think it might be a good idea once off the main channel. How reliable are these new engines–do I not need to think about an alternative way of getting back to the dock? Might add that I will have a bow fitted trolling unit. If you have either of these boats—do you recommend them? Thanks

depends on what type of fishing you want to do. We fish the Miss. and certain times of the year we use a kicker alot. I believe most manufactures 150hp motoers are pretty good and as long as you have a trolling motor you have an emergency way to get to shore.

I have the 185 Trophy with a 135 merc and 6.0 merc. That little merc has saved me several times. I love the Trophy in big water and Miss river rough weekend water.

I would lean toward the Lund and get the kicker.

For your choice if depends on the type of fishing you want to do. 150 HP are pretty good with the trolling motor for emergency situtations.
