Going to be pulling the trigger on a new 1825 Pro Guide. From front to back it will have; a 80lb terrova with ipilot and us2, on board charger, 788 on the front. 1198 on the console, wave wackers, 80lb vantage and a 90hp merc 4 stroke big tiller and hydraulic steering. Is there anything missing from the list? Trying to get it right the first time.

Also there will be a 2010 Alumacraft Navigator with a 90 Yamaha for sale shortly.

THAT IS MY DREAM BOAT!! Would that be the crappie edition by chance? I like the bait well up front. Other then that it sounds like that thing is rigged to the T. Good luck I hope that rig catches fish by the boat load. Throw some pics up when you get a chance, Im sure there are others who would love to see it other then me!!

Drop the rear troller and get a kicker if you plan on trolling. I run a tiller and use the bow for everything from slipping, rigging, blades and troll corkin.
I also use the auto piliot for trolling LC while my 60hp pushes but I can troll it down to 1.8. How slow will the 90 troll that hull?

Why not a larger hp motor? Is it rated for higher? Out of budget?

Hope you love the boat either way, congrats.

I’m kind’of in the same boat so to speak, would the 798 be a better match? Just asking, I know it’s more money, but,,?

If you have the room for an extra battery switch to a 101 terrova, also make sure the ipiolt is the new 2012 version and not the 2011, galvanized trailer (generally about 275-300 to upgrade worth every penny!), put vantage on portside instead of normal starboard side, extra set of network cables at the dash so you can run both units side by side for trolling, berts or traxstech tracks for mounting all your rod holders and accessories so they are removable, full snap cover, swith to yamaha outboard for the VTS option.

Think that about covers it. Im in the same situation and patiently awaiting the arrival of my new boat next week so these are some of the things I have thought of over the last couple weeks of stuff to do.

    Should be a sweet rig!

    Love my 1825 ProGuide.

A couple of thoughts would be the front bait well but not the crappie addition. I ordered the crappie addition with out the decales on the hull so my boat came with the front bait well and the extra seat bases. I wish I did not have the extra seat bases. I have never used them because if I did, once the seat is in place you can not open the center rod locker. So for me just the added bait well up front would be nice. I do have vinyl in c—pit area witch is great. I agree with others that galvanized trailer is the way to go, I forgot this option when I ordered mine. I also have the 80# Terrova and 80# Vantage I absolutely love them. I have “0” need for a kicker. The 80# units work perfectly for this boat. As mentioned put the Vantage on the port side. I will be moving mine this spring but in doing so I will have to order a new set of wave wackers which makes it a costly mistake. I also went with the Yamaha 90 4st for the VTS. I am not sure if Merc has this option on the tiller or not but it is well worth it. IMHO

    Hey guys,

I have an 1825 coming and haven’t ordered splash guards yet. Why do
you suggest the port side mounting of the Vantage? Too much of a reach
if it’s on the starboard side?
Are you then mounting your transducer(s) on the starboard side?

    Thanks!

Merc has a VTS option all the way up to a 200 hp tiller, yamaha stops at the 90hp. If a guy wants a bigger hp tiller and VTS then Merc is really the only option. Merc has something figured out as they are the only outboard motor company I can think of with Variable Trolling Speed on bigger tiller motors, bigger I mean 90hp-200hp.
Merc’s Big Tiller handle is impressive with the VTS and hydraulic steering inside the handle.

With the boats being so wide and being a tiller now you do a lot of reaching behind you and turning your head to watch your electronics because they are on your portside dash. It is nice to have a hand on the handle, watch the direction indicator on the vantage, and see your electronics all with out moving your head. Also nice to have your pivot point of the boat right next to your electronics and not 8 feet away.

+1 why a port side vantage? I sat in one at the boat show with a starboard vantage and it seemed just fine. Does the galvanized trailer prevent rust?

If your righthanded put the Vantage on the portside so you can run it with your left hand. I’m lefthanded and run it with my right hand (starboard side)Wish they made a Tiller for us lefthanded guys.

slap a quick mount bracket on your minnkota so that nobody can steal it!! $1500 worth or motor would be ez for a 1quick JACK! just my 2cents worth the hundred bucks or if u get a cover it may fit on better without a perminent troller mount!

Does a Pro Guide 1825 have storage for 4 batteries – 3 deep cycle and 1 cranking? Also, is the command center large enough to handle 2 HDS-10’s?

    Thanks Dan

I didn’t see room for a third battery in the storage area under the rod
storage. Not that you couldn’t squeeze one in somewhere but it is designed for two.

The command center will hold 2 10’s. It is plenty wide enough.

You can put the 3rd battery under the rods. You just need to move the 4 bank charger to the stern with the main motor.

I put it on the starbord. I am 6′ 3″ with gorilla arms. I sat in one at the boat show that was rigged that way and I liked it. I am planning on keeping this boat for a long time. It will be here mid April!

Yep, been severly distracted since I left the dealership on Monday. I took it as a good sign when the color I wanted wasn’t on the website but was just made available for 2012.

Dad has his Vantage on the Starboard Side of his Pro Guide. I’ve used his boat many times and I can say I don’t mind it being on that side. Works well.

I can however see the value of it being in the Port side.

After reading all your guys posts I decided to run out and buy a 1725. I am going to put an 80 terrova on the front. My question is what kind of time are you getting on the 80 vantage. 8 hrs? longer? Trying to decide if I want to keep my 9.9 or save the weight. Also dose it come completely out of the water? The side scan sensor gives of enough of a rooster tail. Thanks

If you get a merc or a yamaha, you will be able to have an electronic throttle control on the tiller handle, which will eliminate the need for a kicker. I can’t comment on the time, but the vantage does tuck in nice out of the water.

Getting an Optimax. Dealer told me you can’t go below the idel preset just up from there. Don’t know if this is true or not.
