Lund Trak

    Does everyone use the trak system or has anyone mounted a track on the top of the gunnel?

    How does everyone have theirs setup?

    Quick as I’m out the door to fish… )

    I use the Lund track system for regular rod holders, say for panfishing and such all the time. A tool and cup holder as well.

    I mounted a Traxis System on the top for sliding in adjustable tube style rod holders for trolling. One they are stronger, but the real advantage I wanted was getting the long rod ends out of the boat so it was nicer for moving around when running multiple rods. With the Lund setup I had, you lost like 8″ on both sides of the boat by having those ends inside the boat vs holding the rods over the side in the tubes.

    How many more fish do you catch with rod holders 8″ longer? I have 8 rod holder bases mounted on my Lund SportTrak system and it works really well for trolling or however else I fish. I use these rod holders a lot and troll with lead core and snap weights all the time. Why wouldn’t you use the SpotTrak system to mount rod holders? It works very well.
    The SpotTrak system is one of the best ideas Lund has had in some time.

    Don’t recall saying it was about catching more fish…. it was about getting the rod ends out of the walking space in the boat. Makes it a lot nicer with multiple guys moving around. But to each their own. It was just an answer to the question. I personally can’t stand the Lund system when trolling…. particularly when you see how nice the option is done the other way. Give me a three rod tree slipped into the traxis or comprable system and it would be even better. Try mounting that on the Lund system…. or a downrigger…
