    Just got a Lund crossover 1875 (2013) 150 merc
And I am not happy with the hydraulic steering .
Its just too stiff .Have to hold on with both hands always.
Does not look like it is electric over hydraulic ,just one ram moving the other ram down stream. Is there a fix am I missing some think here !

    John,

My dealer mentioned to me that they order all motors above 115 with power steering. Perhaps you should consider that? Also your tilt angle and driving speed will affect the perceived stiffness of the steering wheel.

    John,

I am only guessing that you might not have hydraulic steering and might just have a no feedback system as that is what my neighbors 1875 crossover had and he took it back to get hydraulic added.

I have a Pro V with the Merc 150 also and it has the Seastar hydraulic steering with a hydraulic hose running to each side of the steering cylinder. Google Seastar hydraulic steering as I cant get my photo to attach.

If you do already have the Seastar system it might be low on fluid or have some other issue. Mine is a bit firm but by no means requires two hands.

I upgraded my boating to a new 2075 Tyee Magnum last year from a 21′ glass center console. Powered with my low-hours 250 Etec on the new Lund I immediately noticed how stiff the SeaStar hydraulic steering was. I had an older SeaStar unit on the center console and it was much easier to maneuver.
What finally POPPED into my head was the steering wheel of the cc was almost twice the diameter of the Lund wheel….thus making it more steerable with less movement.
Now, had my salesman/dealer mentioned something to this effect while selecting accessories for the Lund, I would’ve considered power steering.
