Was fishing this morning and pulling in my Terrova when I caught a spark out of the corner of my eye.
I attached pics so you can see. They installed my wiring harness in my 2019 Impact.
They left exposed wires right next to each other that have ultimately started rubbing together ( can’t believe it took this long)
I went out 61 times last year and have been out 34 times so far this year. It just seems that they would have done a more thorough job. The wires and plastic had melted and fused together – can’t believe it didn’t fry something. Anyway, guess if you want it done right do it yourself.

So is pic-1 the before, and pic-2 the after? Or, are we looking at 2 different splices?

Sorry, the pic with the yellow is the dealer job.( trolling motor wiring 1)
The other pic is my job – first stage is the waterproof shrink connector on the red wire. then I covered them both with the black shrink wrap ( that’s the stage the black wire is at)
I need to do ONE thing at a time when online…….

Good looking repair, better than a lot of shops currently.

Yeah, it amazes me how you walk away from that thinking “job done…..”
PLUS, I get to use my new heat gun and buy assorted shrink wraps – almost as good as buying new lures jester

    Good job fixing.

Maybe not as severe but I took mine in for 20 hour service (oil change, etc). I took it out fishing for a few hours and came back home.

A few days later I pulled the cowling off the outboard. It was over 1 quart low and the so-called mechanic shoved an empty potato chip bag under the wiring.

I didn’t mind the bag as much but not making sure they filled up the engine properly set me off.

Quite a conversation with the dealer after that. Never went back. And yes I should have checked it before using it.

    Wow, that is AMAZING!
I just retired and supervising people is NOT something I miss. HArd to find good help that’s for sure.
Sent the photos to my sales rep with a little message about doing due diligence. Doubt I’ll hear back

Different industry entirely but surprising to me…

A coworker is a long time Twins season ticket holder and was asked to respond to a satisfaction survey by the team. He responded very negatively. Later that day he got a call from Dave St. Peter to discuss his responses. No commitment from St. Peter to quickly resolve the issues the team is facing but he at least listened.

Wait until you start accumulating different colors, diameters, shrink rates, with & without sealant, etc,,,,,

Wow, I am impressed he got a call. Twins need all the positive public input they can get. I always operated under the “underpromise” and “over deliver” premise. Do a good job, quickly, with communication and follow up. Make sure they tell their friends they had a GOOD experience. Every little bet helps to build a solid reputation. Success is almost a given when you have a good rep.
