I have read the owners manuals and the glass manufacturer”s recommendations but…………
what works the best to get the water spots off the boat ( washing it did not work very well) and the spots on the windshield – without damaging the finish
Just curious what REALLY works for the average person
Good day on the Mississippi in Clayton Iowa ( across from Prairie du chien) this weekend. He was the smallest

I used to use a diluted vinegar solution with good success until I found the ceramic / hydrophobic finishes like Top Coat, Exforma or the Last Coat. Water spots no longer stick. Try the vinegar or diluted CLR to remove the spots that you have and then apply one of the finishes I’ve mentioned above. Regular soap and water will be all you need going forward.

I wash the boat with soap/ water (I use Meguiars gold class car wash soap). Then I dry with a microfiber towel. That will get rid of most water spots. Stubborn spots get wiped with a microfiber dipped in a diluted vinegar/ water mix. That takes care of the rest. Every once in a while I rain-X the windshield, but I find it doesn’t seem to work for extended periods of time. I just bring microfibers with me in the boat and clear the windshield if I need to.

Curious, 3 people and gear, fully trimmed at 39-40 mph. 5900 rpms
    Too much for the motor?

    What is the actual concern?

with all the crap floating down the sippi in the spring, the last thing I would worry about is stepping on it now. make sure all your boaters are wearing their life jackets in case you find that submerged tree…..i still see new logs popping up each week

Just wondering if I am pushing the motor too hard.
Never owned a boat before this. 5900 in a car i can understand. Don’t know if this is excessive for a 4 stroke outboard motor

For starters, we don’t know what outboard you have. Also, there should be a serial # tag on the midsection, that will give the recommended rpm range.

    Yes legitimate question
    2019 Mercury 4 stroke 115
More reading/ looks like Wide Open Throttle somewhere between 5-6000 rpm
So, trimmed nicely before it starts to lose its grip, running around 5900 rpms at about 38-40 mph pushing an 18 ft Impact with A 4 blade prop from dealer. Don’t know pitch.
Again, just seems high rpm but understanding more now that it is BOT apples to appkes with a car.
Thanks for the push to do more homework. Owner info on board and boat is at storage spot. Rainy day, trying to bone up on my expertise a little.

My Yamaha 150 also has a max rpm around 5,800 – 6,000. 4,000 – 4,500 is my cruising rpm. I’ve never been in that big of a hurry to red line just to get to a fishing spot or back. Going back to your car analogy, just because it can go 120 mph, do you routinely drive it that fast?
