Anyone know if Mercury Smartcraft gauge when installed by Lund factory has the compatibilities to connect Mercury Vesselview mobile to it?
    Thanks in advance.

Vessel View Mobile works with all Smartcraft compatible engines regardless of the gauges in the boat.

I probably should of been more specific, my question should of been is there a port to plug in VVM to the smartcraft gauge location or do you have to plug in the VVM back to the motor.

It depends… If you do get SC gauges with any engine you will definitely have a spot to plug it in. If you go with analog gauges and a mechanical engine you will likely not have a spot from the factory. If there isn’t one you can always order a j-box through your dealer to allow more accessory connection points at the helm.

Having both seems somewhat redundant and expensive. When I ordered my Impact I went with the standard gauges then bought the VV on line and istalled it myself which was very easy to do. I think I paid under $250.00 at the time in 2018.I mainly wanted to track hours on the engine for maintenance purposes but it gives you so much more than that. The only negative I see is that you have to bring up the app and wait for it to load then keep it running if you want to view for a period of time on your phone or whatever. This isn’t an issue for me because the anolog tach etc. came standard and I have MPH on my consol graph. It’s easy to check water temp and faults etc. if you want to but for me not needed on a daily basis. No faults so far after 3 seasons. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The VVM comes with a plug that just T’s into the computer diagnosis port on your engine then is blue tooth to your phone or tablet. Just plug it in wire tie it for support and you’re ready to go.

I believe it works like this:

    1) If you have NO SmartCraft gauge installed, the VVM module just plugs into the existing SC connector at the engine.

    2) If you DO have a SmartCract gauge installed, then it likely used that SC port. If the dealer did not install a junction box, then there is no spare port to connect the VVM to and you will need to get the junction box to add a second port for VVM.

If the dealer already installed the junction box, then it should have an unused port to connect VVM to.

That’s the way it’s shown in this video from Linder’s Angler’s Edge:

    Cheers

There are a few things the smartcraft can do and the VVM cannot do. Which would make the smartcraft not redundant. VVM can not control (lower) the engine RPM for trolling it also cannot read water pressure and oil temperature. I would not purchase VVM to replace Smartcraft but if it were inexpensive and easy plug and play I may add it as it has some advantages in its display and take away features.

    Thank you for the replies.
