Structure scan says no source. No lights on structure scan box indicating power. Checked connections and fuze and all seem good. Checked power from cord of structure scan and only one of 4 plugs have power to it. This power is on even when hds8 gen 2 is off. When I power unit up still only power to one plug of power cord. Does any one know how many of these 4 plugs in the cord have power to them?
I assume when hds powers up it supplies power via the yellow cord and indirectly power it down when turned off. Any help would be great. Tried new power cord to his gen2 ti see if that was cause of problem.

Sorry about any confusion in advance

Is it possible that it’s connected to an accessory switch and that switch isn’t turned on?
That’s how mine is set up

    Powering the LSS-1
The LSS-1 power cable has four wires; red (+), black (–), yellow and blue. The
red wire is the positive and the black wire is the ground. The yellow wire can be
connected to an open accessory switch at the boat’s console, to the yellow wire on
your HDS power cable, or directly to the battery. The blue wire will not be used. Cut
it flush and cover the end with a wire nut or electrical tape.
If you connect the yellow wire to the yellow wire on your HDS unit, StructureScan
will be turned on/off when the HDS unit is turned on/off. Refer to the Power/Data
cable wiring diagram in your HDS Installation manual for more information.

First of all thanks for your time. Should the yellow wire have power through it to the structure scan module when the HDS gen 2 is powered on if it is directly wired to hds gen head units yellow wire. Trying to figure out if module is broken, power cord to module not working or something wrong with hds gen 2. red wire always hot on testing even when hds head unit is off. Am I correct that the yellow wire becomes hot when hds turns on?

Any ideas where one can find a lss-1 power cord if it turns out to be the problem?

    ftp://software.lowrance.com/Documents/StructureScan_INSTALL_EN_988-0179-01_B.pdf

Check out the wiring diagram. Try connecting the yellow wire directly to the battery and see if it works. If it doesn’t, than it’s the lss-1 module that is faulty or the power cord that is faulty.

Another easy way to eliminate the HDS as the problem is to see if the yellow wire coming out of the HDS is hot while it is turned on.

That PDF with the wiring diagram should tell you everything you need to know when troubleshooting.

Check the prongs on the power cord with a voltometer to see if they’re hot.

Good info but it’s been some time since I’ve installed mine.

If or when you get this fixed, I optioned to splice a toggle switch to my Lss-1 so I can turn it off or on when not using SS/DS but still have power to the HDS unit for GPS and traditional 2D sonar. It “may” save some life to the Lss-1, not sure but it won’t hurt…

Thank u all for the help. Have it narrowed down to no power coming from the yellow wire from head unit of sonar. I can get structure scan to work if I hook up yellow wire from the structure scan directly to battery but not if it connected to yellow wire of hds head.
Odd thing is I have 2 hds head mounted next to each other and neither yellow wire has power( is hot) when units are on? I can hard wire it to switch but would prefer not to. Any thoughts?
