    Do the new HDS units draw too much power for a 24 volt system in your boat.

    No, they connect to 12 volt systems.

    I just found this HDS7 w back light on uses 0.8 amps&0.75a for the strucure scan so that shouldn’t be a problem w/a batterys load a total load of 1.55amp’s on a typical group 24 interstate battery is rated @100min at 25amp load! if I figured it right thats 26.88 hours for both units on continuos.

    If you are think of hooking it up to the trolling motor batteries, you will get feedback on your sonar.

    If I believe the manual mentions a 10v-17v range for the HDS units. If you hook it up to your 24v source, you might very well cook your HDS. Run it off of your starting battery, assuming that is 12v. If you worry about draining the starting battery, get a bigger one.
