I want to install a fuel flow meter on my trophy. I have an HDS5 and see it has that option. I am unable to find the on screen meter display picture on-line. I see the seperate multi-function gauge/LMR400, but dont see the display features incorporated into the HDS screen itself. Any insight?

    Welcome to IDO Bob!

Not much online to show you how the fuel flow info is displayed on your HDS.

You can go to your HDS’ info page and view the dashboards and once there if you press “enter” twice you can see the different fuel options you can display on the dashboard.

I added a LMF-200 gauge so I can utilize my HDS for sonar and GPS.

Bob, I have an HDS5 connected to my engine for fuel information. Let me know what motor you have on the transom in case you can just hook up to that for fuel flow info. Otherwise you will have to put the fuel flow meter in line with the fuel line and connect it to the HDS5 using a NMEA 2000 harness. There is an info page with digital and analog guages that you can configure to show whatever engine/fuel information you have available to you. It’s great to know all of that info.

I have a Merc 4.3. Given the price of the EP-60R sensor and the relative ease of installation, I think it’s worth it. Especially compared to a flow scan system which is not cheap.

Bob, you are headed in the right direction. I bet you already have the instructions like these:
    http://www.lowrance.com/upload/Lowrance/Documents/Manuals/EP60R-Fuel-Flow_0154-432_091407.pdf
You just need the following instructions to display your data:
    http://www.lowrance.com/Support/Video-Library/MARINE/How-Tos/LL-HDS-Data-Overlay/
Do you have a starter kit for hooking up your sensor to your HDS unit? I have one that was sent to me after I already had one that I could sell to you at a discount.
    another great website for questions:

Bob, Will I need to add a 12 volt power source in addition to the one for the head unit? As for the starter kit; what’s included in your kit? Let me know, as I am interested.

Yes, you will need to add a 12v power source which comes with the kit and can be supplied from the helm area but separate from the HDS power. The kit includes:

    NMEA Starter Kit Part #124-69

Network starter kit. Includes 2 terminating resistors (TR-120M-RD, TR-120F-RD), two T-connectors (N2K-T-RD), one 2 ft extension cable (N2KEXT-2RD), and one 15 ft extension cable (N2KEXT-15RD), and a power node (N2K-PWR-RD). For use with all Red network devices.
