Waypoint Sharing NMEA2K

    Waypoint Sharing LCX-17m and GlobalMap4900m

    I’ve seen this topic posted on before, but never an official diagnosis. I have both units hooked up via the NMEA2000 network. They are seamlessly sharing a GPS puck telling me the network is working. However as a few have posted before, they will not share waypoints. I have accessed the NMEA2000 menu on the GlobalMap and selected the waypoint sharing option, but when trying to do the same on the LCX-17m the option is not there. (no waypoint sharing option to turn on) The software on the 17 is 1.6.0 (installed today) and on the Global Map it is 1.7.0.

    Any thoughts as to why it wont work? I assume the 17 is just not capable of sharing waypoints. Not a big issue, just more convenient.

    The 17m is on the waypoint sharing list so it should work.

    I think there is a 1.8 update for that unit that never made it to the Lowrance site.

    I know I had to have it sent to me to allow the 17m to use the 4000 antenna.

    I’ll see if I still have it. Not sure if the 1.8 is also required for waypoint sharing.

    You may have to call. Wait times are short to nil.

    I found the 1.8 update in my e-mails. If you want to try it I can forward it to you.

    That did the trick. Backlights are sync’d and waypoints are shared. Thanks Dan.
