Hello, I have an Eagle Sea Charter 480-DF that over time, is losing bottom, even in shallow water less than 20ft. I can do a soft reset and sometimes it read bottom again OK for a while but is very unpredictable. On anchor or at speed, engine running or not, doesn’t matter. I was gonna try a new transducer (106-23) but apparently it’s discontinued. Not sure it would fix the problem anyway.

I added a Nauticpath card a while back and am very happy with the GPS side of the unit for the bays and delta. The sonar just seems like it started going down hill shortly after the warranty period. I was thinking of maybe getting a new (sonar only) unit and just use the 480 for GPS. Heck a Mark 5x is only a couple bucks more than most dual freq transducers by themselves. Anyone using the Mark 5x units? How do you like them for the $$$.

Just can’t bring myself to pitch the old 480 in the trash yet.

    Sorry for rambling…

Have you ever done a software update to your 480?

Hi, Yes, I downloaded and installed the update a while back and is current. No change…

MoPar, I’m having the same problem on my Eagle Sea Charter 480. Talked to Eagle/Lowrance today and they suggested a new transducer, part 106-49, about $100 plus shipping. Did you buy a new transducer? If so, did it solve your problem? I don’t want to spend $100 for nothing. Thanks.
