It looks like the Endura out and back portable GPS is about the cheapest ($200) handheld unit that I think will work with the Lakemap chips, this seem about right???

I think I got my Lowarance XOG for less than that, but I hit a sale. It was right after Christmas last year. I can’t remember the price but it was under $200 for sure. Mine takes the Lakemaster chip

The XOG is discontinued. Lowrance got out of the automotive market a couple years back. I still have people rave about the iWay 600 and the XOG. It’s just too hard to keep up with product that changes every 6 months and has become standard equipment in alot of new vehicles.

Thanks ken, I’m hearing some talk about the standard size Lakemaster chips not working in some of the portable lowrance units and you need to buy the newer/smaller version chip???

That is correct. Many handhelds will only work with the micro-sd cards. All 2010 Lakemaster chips are the micro-sd cards sold in the full size adapter so if your Lakemaster chip is a 2010… you should be good.

    Chips are older..
Only saving grace in all this is I “should” be able to buy a new chip and use it in both the LXC27C and whatever portable I get…right????

This all might just be easier to follow James around and fish out of his holes…I’m sure he won’t mind.

I always punch a bunch. Plenty to go around.

As for any new chip you buy it will be a micro sd chip BUT it will come with the adapter for the larger format. You’ll be able to use it any unit compatible with your version of the chip purchased.

I added a pic so you’d have a better idea of how that micro sd chip works with the adapter.

Kinda figured that’s how it went, but with my luck I’d buy the one odd ball unit out there that it didn’t work on.

ok…you punch the holes, I’ll bring the portabarb and lunch…just let me know when we’re going..
