I bought my first Lowrance GPS about 3-4yrs ago; it was great. I had a special padded case for storage. I babied it. The last time I tried to use it, the power button didn’t work. I thought no big deal. I have been using Lowrance fish finders for 30+ years. If you had any problems, you’d just send it in or find a service center. I called a Lowrance service center and after waiting on hold about 25 min for service, they told me they could NOT fix my GPS or any other ones. But, if I sent my GPS in they would take $75 off a new one. I can’t afford to spend $600 or more every 3-4 years for a new GPS. I am very disappointed with Lowrance.

or any other ones.
That means they don’t fix any Lowrance products?
Personally, I would take it a part to get at the switches. Clean the offending switch. There’s a reason it’s sticking.
Worst thing that could happen is you could break it, but it’s not going to change the trade in value.
Not that it’s going to make you feel much better..but I can’t get parts for my sno blower anymore either.
Hopefully Ken will have a better answer for you than I have.
November 23, 2010 at 4:58 pm #911823had trouble with my H2O more than once, went with a Garmin and so far (knock on wood) with one full season behind me, it does everything I ask of it. Very happy.

Its obvious you have never taken one apart. Its not a simple electric switch. You can’t just take it apart and clean these switches. And as soon as you break the seal on the case, the unit is no longer waterproof.
It says on your profile that you’re a salesman. Do you sell Lowrance GPS’s?Quote:

If your snow blower was 3 years old, you would be able to get parts for it.
John SchultzInactivePortage, WIPosts: 3309November 23, 2010 at 7:14 pm #911865Its the nature of high end electronics. I can’t get parts for my 5 year old PC anymore because they don’t make the parts I need. They came out with more advanced stuff. To my knowledge, Lowrance didn’t make my computer. I can’t buy games for my old Xbox anymore either unless I find a used one. They don’t make them anymore because they only make them for the latest and greatest of their gaming systems. Lowrance didn’t make that either. Same problem though as your GPS.
It sucks that your GPS took a dump on you. Its an imperfect world and Lowrance isn’t the only company that does business in it.
November 23, 2010 at 9:02 pm #894912Andy, I guess you could try doing nothing to fix the unit and keep on whining about it.
Also, Dan and Brian would have probly been able to offer assistance but you might have burned that bridge…being new you might want to try to tread a bit lighter and figure out who ppl are and you will realize just how unique this sight is. It aint on LSF or FM where its all Hot Shots and such.
Sorry to hear that the unit is failing, there were a few bad years there. I’d be willing there might be someone here that can offer assistance or has tried…
Best luck, MarkNovember 23, 2010 at 10:29 pm #911905Look at it this way…..
My H20c cost me $260 new 3 years ago…it still works, but lets say it dies on me this season,
That’s around $86 a year…..which is about $7.50 a month…which is about $.25 a day
Over all….not a bad deal for me.November 23, 2010 at 11:22 pm #911913Quote:

You indicated that you called a “Lowrance service center”. Hopefully it was Lowrance customer service in Tulsa. The wait on hold is abnormally high for current wait times. Just in case the official Lowrance customer service is 1-800-324-1356 and they are answering the phones from 8:15 am to 4:45 pm Central Standard Time Monday through Friday except Holidays.
I would like to know if your unit is an LCX model as I have been told they still have service for those units. The LMS and older units are another issue and some were still sold as late as 3 or 4 years ago but were legacy units at that time since the LCX units were the current model then.
Something to look for when purchasing older Lowrance units that are a “good deal” would be to research a little to see how old they are and if the company is still servicing them. I would like everyone to know that it’s a “buyer beware” to purchase older units that are “cheap” or a really “good deal”. You get what you pay for.
The new HDS units are the current model and come with a 2 year warranty to protect the consumer. They just came out last year so should be the current model for a few years to come meaning they will be serviced for quite a long time considering this industry.

November 24, 2010 at 6:25 pm #912102Looks like you more issues besides just your Lowrance…..
Otherwise you would have replied to Ken rather than snipe on Chuck.
You have not answered any of our questions…..All you have done is complained and slam….Just an observation….

No, I don’t sell Lowrance, but by your profile, I see what your selling.
It’s apparent what’s disappointing in this thread.
