332C Flickering through brightness settings

Went out fishing the other day and I have my Lowrance 332C on switched power. Turned the switch on and my unit started up on it’s own and then I notice it cycling through the brightness levels rapidly…

So, pressing the power button stops this, until the unit shuts off.

Obviously, the power button has failed in some manner, anybody else have this happen and (how) did you resolve it?

I had the same issue with my 520C when I had it. The power button seemed to get “stuck” on the edge of the hole it was in. I would just wiggle it a bit and the problem would stop. Not sure if it was a sign of things going bad, but I fixed it by switching it to an HDS unit so I never found out.

I like your fix to the problem John, get an HDS unit! Great advise.

The power button’s are pretty much junk, the circuit board button sticks, and this is what happens, There isn’t really a fix, and I’m not sure it always does stick, my 332 does the same thing, most of the time it works fine, yet it pisses me off, they wouldn’t do anything for me, I did have a very nice offer for some help, I ended up doing nothing and live with it still working most of the time.

I’m careful to push the button as little and lightly as possible and it’s normally fine, usually it comes unstuck again at some point, read a post where a guy heated it up with a blow dryer to help unstick the button, I haven’t reached that point yet.

The other thing to note, is to either have the unit on a switch (it’s suppose to be installed that wy) or disconnect the power plug or you run a VERY good chance of killing your battery dead.

I did some checking and the issue might have been caused by moisture in the keypad. It’s been a while since your first post, have you checked the unit since then? It could dry out and work now. If so and the unit will turn on be sure to take the opportunity of the unit on to back up your waypoints and trails onto an MMC card.

If the unit did it once it could happen again if it is a moisture issue. At that point you would need to call customer service to get a repair order. So just in case the unit goes out completely, at least you have your waypoints to install into another unit.

Mine is still doing the same thing. Have not done anything to it yet. Have tried setting in the house to dry out thinking it may be moister but this did not work either. Mine has transducer issues to. Think this unit is trying to tell me something.

If the drying out process does not address the problem then it is time for a trip back to Lowrance to the service dept. Call Lowrance customer service, explain the issue and they will let you know what can be done.
