For those of us who recently purchased an HDS unit and have never done an update, how does the process work?

Do you simply download this update to an SD card and then is it plug and play when you insert it into the HDS unit??

1.Insert sd card into computer. 2.Choose download from Lowrance website. 3. When it prompts you to, choose run. If you have microsoft it should guide you through the rest. When the files are on the card, insert the card into the HDS unit {make sure the HDS is off}. When the card is in the HDs turn the unit on and it will start downloading. The unit will walk you through the rest. Hope this helps

Does it set the unit back to all the default settings after you upgrade it? With all the different page combinations, it took me forever to get all my overlay data on them.

Unless this update fixes some really big issues, I probably won’t load it.

    Hi guys,
As a heads up I would advise anyone doing this update to do a fresh computer back-up before starting the 3.5 update (install) program. Based on my experience on running the 3.0 update for a friend of mine (I do not own an updateable Lowrance), I saw that the build program used the Windows Program installer tool to created a “Program file” (control panel/add or remove programs path) that does not have a supported “uninstall” executable. The result is that there is junk left in the computer that cannot be easily removal (although I have done this repair many times in my past life). The simplest way around this (is) to have a fresh restore package available to back out this junk.

    Take care,
    Roger
