Getting the flashing depth death signal in less than 15.0 feet of water. Unit is flawless at high speed when over 15 feet. My lcx 17 works perfect on the same ducer at all depths. 2.1 software on board, made setting adjustments, what am I missing??

    From your posting…
    17 works fine all around
    25 fails shallow
25 works deep WHILE going fast?

Check battery voltage,(on screen feature) might be low from old battery. Maybe the motor’s charging system is compensating while at higher rpm. Sorry but from the description thats all I have to offer. I was thinking ducer till you said 17 works flawless. -Mark

Find the “fishing modes” menu and select “shallow water”.

I know this helped for some units.

17 works fine all the time, 25 works deeper than 15 feet all the time (including at high speed)

I don’t remember seeing the fishing mode section….I will look into that as well.

Check what version of software you have in your unit currently. To do this go to menu, system, software information. This will show your current version. The current version available on http://www.lowrance.com is 2.1 for the LCX 25c. If your version is an earlier version, a smaller number, then download the update and install it into your unit. (Follow the instructions on the web site)

This can help the shallow water issues. Also go to fishing mode and change it to shallow water. While in the sonar screen hit menu and go to sonar options, here is where you will find fishing mode. Arrow down to it and hit enter and choose “shallow water” and hit enter and this will insert it into the box and you’re done.

I have 2.1 and have found the mode setting. Will see if this helps when I get out this weekend.
