Apparently my 3 year old 337 is too old to repair, so I paid well over $100 a year for a fish finder thats now pretty much junk… Oh wait they’ll give me a $75 credit for my $500 unit that they conviently won’t fix anymore. What really pisses me off is it’s a bad power button, the button has probably only been pressed 200 times in it’s life.

Yeah I think I’ll be rushing out to buy another Lowrance POS.

Anyone want to buy a broken (slightly useable) 337 or a 111? which they apparently still support….. I’ll probably be posting an add in the very near future atleast for my 111, if I’m replacing one, I’m doing them both…

I had a power button go out once on a Lowrance a long time ago and an electrical guy was able to hard wire it for me so that if power was there it would just power up.

maybe just the button won’t be too spendy

That was actually my first call before lowrance they dont work on them.

It’t exactly that the button doesn’t work but apparently they get stuck, I pretty confident replacement isn’t really an option, I’m going to try some things out.

Screw me once loawrance shame on you, screw me twice…. we’ll you’re not getting that chance, let alone you fired the single best customer service person you ever had…..

Actually she quit. But that’s a moot point.

I’ve since found there’s a number of very good customer service people there.

Any company can hire the right design engineers and build a product, but not every company has and demonstrates a true commintment to their customers.

Having to scrap a $500 fish finder after 3 short years with no repair options just isn’t right… But really who cares, the companies investors are just concerned about this quarters profit and it’s the job of the CEO to maximinze this number right???

Sure gives me a warm feeling to invest in $1500 into hds and structure scan….

thats lowrance for ya. I love them and probably will always use them but for some reason there not very durable! I have bought 2 HDS units for my ranger about a month ago and have had both replaced already! Always buy in pairs so you have a backup!!!

The problem with ALL electronics companies is getting parts.

With the pace of the electronics industry, 3 years is ancient.

Personally, I think they (all fish locator/gps units) are way over priced. If I would pay $100. for a unit, it would be a little easier to swallow getting 3 years out of it.

Bottom line? It’s better business practice to stock more new units than it is to stock switches and displays that a company may or may not sell.

Call other manufacturers and ask about a repair of a three year old unit.

That may be the saddest statement I’ve ever heard regarding a “high end” item. Perhaps Raymarine is the way to go for everything and then a separate HB unit just for the side imaging.

Someone on another site has called HB and here is what they will repair and the costs upfront, no surprises, and many of these models are way older than 3 years. Lowrance’s view, hey if customer keep buying with the known issues and we keep making money, why change there’s no incentive to change?

Humminbird. Here is what I like about them. They publish the repair rate, no matter what is wrong with the unit. Send in the unit, cables, transducer. They’ll fix it and send it back for the price quoted. Notice how old some of these are.

So the Lowrance service program list for 2010 must not be up to date? (it does say subject to change without notice) They must have been servicing the 337 not to long ago.

    Lowrance Service Program

    Nope..

It actually worked ok today, Not sure where I’m going with this yet… I’m in no major hurry… Money has been tight enough with the wife out of work for a couple years, at least she’s working now, long and short of it I guess, my 111 still works, I suppose I don’t need a fish finder up front either, or I could always put my LX3 back up there (though there is nor universal transducer attachment for that one…)

The family is happy and healthy, I can count my blessing that way.
