Can you hook up aHDS7 and LSS-1 strucure scan to a LMS520C and what can they share in info? what cables do you need?
    Thanks Stan

Yes they can be connected by ethernet cord. I have a buddy that just did this with a HDS5 and a 520 or 522. I believe all he can share is sonar & waypoints. He is only able to see one sonar picture at a time, meaning both units will show the same sonar/transducer image and you will have to select or change between the two sonars if you want to view the other image. Hope this made sense. Good Luck.

Guys, My understanding is that an ethernet cable between a non-HDS and an HDS unit will only allow for sonar data to be exchanged. For waypoints etc, I believe one needs a NMEA network established. Can anyone confirm if that is correct?

You can share waypoints from an HDS to an LCX/LMS via ethernet.

Sonar sharing will be spotty due to the slower processor
in the LCX and LMS units.

Thanks Dan. I had heard mixed reports about that so I wasn’t sure.

All HDS units have the hardware in them to run the LSS-1 Structure Scan but none of the LMS or LCX units can run the structure scan.

By networking the dis-similar units together via ethernet you will share the 2D sonar (conventional sonar) between the two units not the 3D or structure scan signal because of the inability of the LMS unit to process and display the information. All temperature and GPS data is shared between the units via a NMEA 2000 backbone.
