I picked up the 2010 lakemaster chip. When I installed it in my 27C. I could not get the maps to display. Someone at Gander said I would need to do the newest update ( 2.5.0 ) for the new chip to work. Has anyone else had any problems with the new lakemaster chip. The Info. said it was a simple plug and play. I wish if there was updates needed to make the chip run that they would let you know before you purchase it. I do not own a card reader so I will need to find someone to download the newest update befor I can use it. To make matter worse i sold my old chip before I found out the new one would not work. i just hope that the new update is the problem. The unit is only a year old so I have a hard time believing that the update is the issue. Just curious if anyone else has had a issue. Thanks in advance for all of your responses.

This isn’t a Lakemaster issue… this one is a Lowrance issue. Put that same chip in another Lowrance unit (H2Oc for example) and it works just fine.

Call Lakemaster in the AM. They’re working on a “code around” to get you up and running again. The last time I talked to Lakemaster on this issue they told me they would do everything in their power to get everyone out on the water with a working Lowrance / Lakemaster chip combo and that nobody was going to get stuck with a chip that won’t display.

    Thanks for the info.

Sure wish I’d known it wasn’t gonna work before I stuck it in my 27C and a tourny coming up next week, even if it is a small tourny.

Made the mistake of reinstalling the old 06 chip and now the unit is locked up.

But a bit of web wandering shows a update for the LCX27C to use the Pro map…I hope that’s the cure your speaking of???

Al…who thinks electronics is gonna be the death of him…

Edit, just checked, looks like the update is for shallow water and such, I see a call to Lowrance is in order.

Not so sure on who’s issue it is, according to Lakemaster their chips work in a LCX27C, evidently not.

Personally I’m putting this on Lakemaster, not Lowrance.

Either way I hope somebody comes up with a cure.

Edit..seems anybody with these units LCX-27C, LCX 37C, LMS-522C, LMS-520C, LCX-112C, GM 7200C, XOG, Eagle IGPS 502, seems all these are having problems.

See the added notice in the Lowrance compatibility section

I can’t get the 06 chip to work now, any way to reset/? this unit so I can at least use the old chip???

Just talked to LakeMaster. The chip did not work in my LCX37C. They will send you out a postage paid envelope to return your chip, and send you a new one. They said they have fixed the problem and should have the new chips as soon as this week or early next week. Let’s hope!

Yup, sent them a email this morning and they responded already, sending the envelope to me also.

Gotta give Lakemaster kudo’s for good service on this one, I had visions of being without the chip for a month or two.

Now just to get the old chip to work till then..grrrrr

That’s what I thought too. LakeMaster supplies the data that’s to work in “all” the units. Lowrance supplies the code. So when Lowrance supplies a code with errors in it LakeMaster takes the hit because they advertise compatibility.

LakeMaster has their hands tied until the big L gives them the correct code which means we wait. Luckily for us once LM has the correct info they can get it on to new chips and ship VERY fast.

Either way, it’s in LM’s best interest to have a happy customer no matter who’s fault it is.

I have to repeat/say that Lakemaster has been way more than just helpful, they and I have had a running email on both the repair and getting my 27C to work again with the 2006 chip that was in it.

They are sending a postage paid envelope for me to return the chip and they expect to have the update figured out this week.

They also helped me get the old chip to work till it 2010 chip gets back to me.

Its good to see excellent customer service, unfortunately I don’t think its as common as it used to be.

Good to hear it’s working out for you Al!

I was just off the phone with them too.

If there’s trouble with your chips call or email and they’ll take care of you just like Al. They are sending out pre paid envelopes and will be sending folks new chips.

These guys are quick, I already got the envelope and sent it back to them this morning, hard to beat that kind of service.
