You will see at the front of the motor where the interface
cable plugs into a square white connector which I believe
is currently capped.
You also need to find the two pink wires that are capped
and taped. You will need to plug these together to send
a correct trim reading to the ECU.
The cable routing grommet is held into place with a removeable side pc.
You will need to remove this pc. to route the interface cable through the grommet.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Dandorn! I had just found the info on the Lowrance site and then your response came in on my e-mail. I found the white connector on the starboard side of the motor and yes it was capped. Didn’t know it was a cap the first time I had looked at it. Have not looked for the pink ends yet or taken apart the gromment yet but plan on it today. I did figure out that my dealer did not run power to the NMEA system when they installed the fuel flow sensor. I was wondering why I could never find that info on my HDS. I do need the NMEA system powered on its own don’t I?
Thanks for the help!
Just finishing wire my HDS to my Yamaha. How does it look? Any obvious problems?
First pic is the NMEA system hook ups
Second pic is two pink wires in the front of motor, that I removed the plugs and plugged them into each other.
Third pic is where the wire harness plugs into white plug on starboard side of motor.
Thanks!
Looks good! Time to power it up!
Are you going to connect your bow unit to the network?
Thanks Dan!
Right now I do not plan on hooking my bow HDS unit up to the NMEA network but it is hooked up by ethernet to my back HDS. I plan on picking up the Structure Scan this week and hooking both up to Structure Scan. I will power up later today and try it on the water. Once again THANKS for the info!
I’ve been trying to get a Yamaha cable for almost a year now. Where did you find one? I’ve tried ebay and I had one ordered from LEI about a month ago and got the email stating it was on backorder until “at least mid-May” so they refunded my money.

Josh, I ordered mine from Reeds Sports in Walker MN and they had it in about 1 1/2 weeks. http://reedssports.com/
Talk to Cory or Jeff in the fishing dept. Hope this helps.

Josh,
I’ve got one if you need the RED one.
Yamaha Engine Interface Cable – Red, #120-37
Interface between a Yamaha engine and NMEA network to display engine data. Comes with T connector. For use with red NMEA network.
It would be cheaper to pick one up locally or order one from one of the larger retailers though. I think Cabelas had them online recently. Holler if you are in a pinch.
