HDS Units and River Chip

I am wondering which chips will display the wing dams for all pools of the upper Miss. I have an older Navionics chip that has this info but would like newer one with insight. I know they don’t have insight available for all pools.

When you say “all pools” which ones exactly are you talking about?

The MN Lakemaster 09 chip show the wingies on Pools 3 & 4…I would have to check for 2 and anything South.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I guess I am talking about pools 3-10 at least. I can’t remember which chip I have at home right now. I know Navionics has of the older cards that does this but the dams aren’t very visible. The chip I have shows the dams as big wide lines. Very easy to see on the plotter. I think the chip I have was a Rivers North Chip.

Another question? For this area which 3D card. Lakemaster or Navionics.

Is this true for both MN and WI chips? And is this valid for only HDS units? Sorry, not trying to hijack your post.

lakemaster 2010 chip for insight and standard lowrance has 1 foot contours for pools 1-8, just checked on lakemaster’s site!!

looks like i’m making a purchase this week…

i’m just glad i clicked on this thread. i’ve been wondering, hoping, and wishing for the past 3 years when lakemaster would put depth contours on 2 & 3.

Thanks for the good info guys. The chip I had was a 2007 Lakemaster Chip. I really liked the way the wing dams were displayed on it. My buddy had a navionics and they just showed up with thin lines. Are the dams on the new chips a thicker solid line?

They are a “medium” sized line if there is such a thing when you are zoomed out further to avoid covering up too much information on the map. When you get in a little tighter they become healthy sized lines. One of the better maps I have seen of the mississippi river. You can even see the “wave action” like look of the main channel in a lot of spots.

The LakeMaster Insight MN and WI map chip only has Pool 4 and 8 high definition contours. The LakeMaster MN and WI 2010 Legacy map chip has the Mississippi Pools 1-8.
