2010 Lakemaster Chip Problem?

I bought a new 2010 Lakemaster chip at the show. I have a Lowrance Globalmap 7200c (mapping unit), a LCX 26c HD and a LMS 332c on my rig – all networked. Since everything has been in, it all works great. I have had and ran the 2006 and a 2008 Lakemaster chip and the 2007 and the 2009 Navionics chips. All worked great in either/any of the 3 units.
So I bring home the 2010 Lakemaster with the intention of running it mostly in my Globalmap, but it won’t load up. The screen is blank in the Globalmap unit!
It works great in the other 2 units, but not the Globalmap. I loaded it several different ways and checked all the settings to see if it was reading the right tray/map, data, etc. I even checked the Global for software updates. I’m covered! I did do a soft reset too – and nothing.
Do you think I need to do a hard reset?
I just can’t figure out why it works in the other units, but not the Globalmap. All the old chips work in it…
    I’m lost. Help!

I don’t think the hard style of reset is going to do a whole lot for getting the chip to function in the unit itself.

To diagnose the problem, the chip is functioning fully as it is working in the other two units, however after looking at lowrance’s product updates (http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine/Large-Screen-GPS-Chartplotters/GlobalMap-7200C/Downloads/GlobalMap-7200C-Software-Update/) It seems like that software update actually has a lot of MMC/SD enhancements. First I would try to re-install the update, (make sure everything was installed in the unit correctly) then continue on from there.

    Hi,
So you’re saying you have level 2.5.0 (07/2909) installed in your GlobalMap 7200c, correct? If this is true, I would guess your unit needs another update (that is not yet available). Remember to save your internal waypoints (and trails) onto a MMC/SD card before you do any “Hard Reset” on your unit >> otherwise they will be lost. I would guess you will not fix anything w/ your resets and it will end up being a software (firmware) compatibility issue. Hopefully Lowarnce will have a fix soon (let them know of your problem).

    Good luck,
    Roger

RogerR: My thoughts exactly. I really think it is a software problem from Lowrance – within the unit (not up to snuff for the new mapping). I may try what the previous post said too – just to make sure I have everything right on my original ugrade. I know the unit says “2.5.0” but you never know. I really don’t want to do a hard reset unless I have to.
I just wonder if Lowrance has other units that will have this issue. Hmmm… Or is it just the 7200c?
I did email them today (closed for weekend), but I intend on calling them on Monday as well.
    Thanks for the ideas.

OK. Here’s an added update. I went to a friends house today and tested the 2010 Lakemaster chip in “his” 7200C Globalmap. It did not work there either. I also tested it in his 520 and his 27 and the 2010 chip did not work in any of those units either. So I wnet back home and retested it im my Globalmap again after a hard reset. Same thing. Nothing on the screen. I also retested the 2010 chip in my older 332 and 26 again. It worked in both the older units (332 and 226) just fine (again), but will not work in a 7200c Globalmap or a 520 or a 27 (newer units). The 2009 Lakemast chip works fine in each unit. Why not the 2010? …Now I’m really baffeled. Why would it work in the older units, but not the newer ones?
Anyone else tried the new 2010 Lakemaster Pro Map chips in their non-HDS Lowrance units yet?
I’d like to know if anyone else is having trouble with this or if it is just me. That way I could narrow down my search to the chip itself. Right now, I think it’s in the Lowrance units, not the cip. If this is actually the case, there will be a lot of pi$$ed-off people out there with a 2010 chip – until Lowrance fixes the software.

Do you know off hand if that 520 and 27 were running the latest software versions?

I think the 27 should have version 2.5 , not sure on the 520 however.

I’m pretty sure those units were updated. He did not have the 7200c updated though, so I know it will not work on the old or the new software there (mine is updated).
