    Hey all

I finally got my new rig out and have had time to play some more with the HDS-10. One thing i noticed was that the water temp was 31.5 deg. Most everyone else was at 34 to 35 deg.

I dabbled in the menu but did not find what I was looking for… I did a google search…nada…

    Any input ?

My guess is a bad temp sensor. Do you have another xducer
you could plug into your 10 and throw over the side for
    a test reading??

    I would try that first.

I do not think so…There are no wires coming off to the outside of my boat

Must be the air temp reading if it doesn’t have the remote
    sensor cable.

See pg. 89 of your manual to select “Transducer Type”.

When you have time can you check to see if you have “Hunting” in your chart categories.

    Press menu once.
Scroll to Chart options and press the rt. arrow.
Scroll to categories and press enter.

Do you have the same menu as in the screenshot?

    Thanks!!

My ranger had the temp sensor mounted in the bottom through a hole that it was epoxied in. If you lay underneath the boat look at the bottom and see if you have any holes plugged with a brass piece. I could see the wire as well looking in the pump access pannel.

    Well,

here is what I found…There is actually a temp calibration feature on my HDS-10

With The Sonar Screen on, I hit Menu, settings, sonar, installation, temperature calibration

    Save and I’m in !!!

I do not have a hunting category

    Dave,

I found out today that you will only get the expanded
chart categories menu when a chip has been inserted.
For some reason it’s an intermittent feature on mine.

If your messing around with your HDS again tonight see if
you have the expanded menu with a chip inserted.

See screenshots of the expanded chart categories menu.
The second screenshot only has an additonal 4 categories.
The 4 after the “Roads” category.

    Thanks,

    Dan
