Lowrance auto sensitivity

Anyone have any suggestions on settings to get the auto sensitivity to react faster.

It seems like the sensitivity is always too high on my unit, I get too much clutter on the screen. I can manually turn it down and then put it back into automatic and it seems to be ok. If I travel into shallow water the sensitivity always stays to high with the screen full of clutter and doesn’t come down.

Is there a setting I am not finding to help with this?

I ditched the auto sensitivity and keep the manual sensitivity bar up on the screen. Then, manually adjust on the fly, in no time it will be 2nd nature to you. Lowrances seem to be finicky creatures.

    Good luck.

I believe that is what Bruce “Doc” Samson says in his seminars. I started doing exactly what you are doing and like you said turns into 2nd nature.

Hmm, the one time bI had a chance to listen to Doc talk Ib swear he said his was in auto too, most of the time, maybe he changed his ways….. I dunno auto works fine for me, rarely do I find the need to change it.

    Whatever works for you.

You may be able to adjust it while it is in auto mode also (depends on which unit you have)

From the owners manual for the 334C

The control bar used to adjust sensitivity up or down is the same whether the unit is in the automatic or manual mode. In automatic you can adjust sensitivity up to 100 percent but the unit will limit your minimum setting. In auto, the unit will continue to make small adjustments, allowing for the setting you selected.
In manual mode, you have complete control over sensitivity, with the ability to set it anywhere from zero to 100 percent. Once you select a level in manual, the unit will continue to use that exact sensitivity setting until you change it or revert to auto mode.
