hds install

I have 2 hds 5’s already installed on my z520. I am adding an hds 8. I have alot of questions regarding the networking.

1. Can the hds 5 at the helm share its transducer with the 8, and if so how?

2. What is the nema 2k network?

3. Can I tee 3 networks on the 2k together and if so how?

1. Yes……..via the ethernet port.

2. NMEA 2000 is a new buss network specifically designed for boats. This

is a very young industry standard recently developed by the National

Marine Electronics Association. At the time of printing, few boats being

built now have a NMEA 2000 buss installed. Over the next few years,

however, NMEA 2000 will become much more common. To help you get

the most out of this technology, Lowrance has introduced a line of

products (the blue connector units) that can communicate over a NMEA

2000 network.

3. You have one network set up in your boat and you’re adding devices to that network with T’s and extension cables.
