Waypoint loading on Lowrance

    Guys,
I am trying to transfer some waypoints from my dad’s lowrance graph to my LCX112 and LCX37. He has his waypoints stored on a card (no name ssd card) and when I put it in either of my graphs and try to transfer data it tells me that I need to insert a MMC card. Is there something I am doing wrong or won’t it work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brent

Hope this helps…. I’ll be trying this today as well…

    straight from lowrance

    GPS Data files:
GPS Data Files contain waypoints, routes, trails and event marker
icons. Instructions for copying GPS Data Files between your computer
and a MMC are contained in the instruction manual for your MMC
    card reader and MapCreate software.
GPS data automatically recorded in the unit’s internal memory must be
saved to the MMC (as a GPS Data File) in order to store it on your
personal computer (If you have an HD model, these can also be save to
the hard drive.). GPS Data Files stored on a MMC must be copied from
the card to the unit’s internal memory before the unit can read them.

    Here’s how:
    1. Insert the MMC into your unit. Press MENU|MENU|↓ to SYSTEM
SETUP|ENT|↓ to TRANSFER MY DATA|ENT and the screen below appears.

The Transfer My Data submenu asks if you want to save data to the
MMC or load data from the MMC into the unit’s memory.

    2. The Transfer My Data menu includes a message that tells you if a
MMC is present or not. If no MMC is present, you must insert a card
into the unit to activate the Load or Save commands.
To transfer data from the unit to the MMC: press ENT (for SAVE.)
To transfer data from the MMC to the unit: press → to LOAD|ENT.
    3. Saving to MMC: To accept the default name “Data” for the GPS Data
File, press ↓ to SAVE DATA|ENT. If you wish to rename the file (as shown in
the following figures), press ENT to activate the Data File name selection
box. Press ↑ or ↓ to change the first character, then press → to the next
character and repeat until the name is correct. Then, press ENT|↓ to SAVE
    DATA|ENT.
The unit will display a completion message when the data transfer is
finished. To return to the Page view, repeatedly press EXIT.

    Thanks Jami,
For some reason the unit tells me that I don’t have an MMC card installed even when I do have it installed. I will have to mess with it more tonight.

Make sure the card isn’t locked. There is a slide on the side of the card. That might be it, or try another card or swap the cards in the slots on the unit.

I rcall that some guys have had trouble with certain brands of MMC cards. In the past, Sandisk brand SD cards have worked well on Lowrance/Eagle units.

I have had issues with trying to use SD cards from other electronics etc..Camera. Especially if the card is very large (2-4)GB. I have even tried formating the cards with the computer and the lowrance (I think it has to be in a FAT format). But anyways the only way I have been successful upgrading firmware and loading waypoints is to use one of the actual map data cards. Some of them have extra room on them to store additional data. I did this on a 2007 Lakemaster Minnesota map card and loaded firmware upgrades for the LCX -25C, Globalmap 4900, LMS 480M and transfered waypoints. Hope this helps.

Well I tried loading data using the contour pro software to my graph this weekend. It didn’t work using the instructions I posted above…..

Luckily I don’t trust lowrance much and I wrote down all the coordinates so I put them in manually.

I’m going to try and figure it out this week. I’ll post more on my findings….
