I bought a Gen2 HDS5 with lake insight for my bow last year. When I got it, I recall (I’m pretty sure anyway) using the lake contour mapping a few times before storing it for winter. This year, I can’t seem to find the option to use the contour mapping. I have been through every menu and option and have also read the manual a few times. Do these units come with the mapping or do I need to buy a mapping chip?
Some lakes may not be on the insight mapping that comes with it, and whats there is really basic. If you want more lakes and more detail you need to get a chip, something like the Navionics Platinum.
Go to Chart Page, then MENU MENU.
One of the last options is HIDE CHART.
Just a suggestion/guess. 
If you have Lake Insight printed on the case of the HDS5, you should have charts similar to Fishing Hot Spots Pro. Not state-of-the-art but certainly not “basic”. Check what BrianK suggested to see if you turned off the chart. Then check another larger lake to see if you happened to find a lake that is missing from Insight.
There is an option to hide the contour depth lines on the chart page. I believe it is under chart options.
