Transducer location

I bought a 2003 lund 1800 fisherman. It came with an Eagle Fish Mark 320 in the bow and a 778c hummingbird on the dash. I want to install a elite 5 dsi/gps I have next to the 778c. If I keep the 778c installed can I mount the elite 5 transducer next to the 778c transducer? How far apart can the transducers be mounted? The 778c and the elite 5 dsi operate on different frequencies. Thanks for any information or comments.

Not sure if you will get interference or not…So let’s pretend that you will. If you mount them both on the transom, they will interfere (Assuming they do interfere??).

I know my marcum will throw interference with my HBird if i toss that transducer over the side. I’m pretty sure they are different frequencies.

I’ll also assume your eagle is hooked up to your trolling motor.

I’d run your graph on your 7XX Bird since lakemaster has such good charts and i would run the elite 5 sonar.

I cannot see a reason to have both sonars running at the same time. I would want one of them showing the chart.

Since neither of them are DI or SI, i’d use the smaller screen for sonar and the larger for charting.

Sorry i couldn’t help with interference, but i do know that if there is interference, both on the transom will not work. HOWEVER, you do have the ability to turn off the sonar on your Bird, maybe you can on your elite 5 also? If so, then i would mount one on each side of your transom and turn only one of them on at a time.

Can you run a Quad beam transducer on your 778c? I’m guessing no, but it’s kind of a poor man’s SI and might help you out in some areas.

Thanks for your comments. I plan on doing some trial and error situations this spring.
