I’m considering and HDS-9 Gen2 Touch for updating my electronics this spring and have heard a lot of comments from people I’m not sure I can trust. I was leaning toward the Hummingbird units when side imaging came out the one feature I really liked was being able to mark waypoints by moving my cursor to a rock pile I could see on the side image display. Can anyone tell for certain if I can do that by touching the screen where I see rocks etc on the structure scan display? I’ve been a big Lowrance guy for 20+ years and feel their sonar is superior to Hummingbird but marking structure seen on the structure scan is a must in my book.

I haven’t personally done it but I believe it can be done. I will have to check when I get home.

I run a 12 & 7 touch. You move the courser by just touching the point on the screen you want a way point for! Its that easy, you wont be disappointed. I went from a 1198 & 998 in 012 to the touch units in 013. Just love them.

thanks and you can do that on either the sonar (even in backtrack mode) and on the structure scan display?

OK so I’m sold on the HDS Gen2 Touch, right now the difference in price between he 7 & 9 is $700 is the added detail seen with the 2″ bigger screen worth the price?

When viewing the FULL screen on my 7 inch Touch I can see plenty of detail, BUT usually I split my screen to view at least two and often three screens at once. Bigger would be better in my opinion. You will be amazed at how great the touch screen works.
