The LSS1 is the first and then they came out with the new and improved LSS2. They will both work on your HDS units. I only have the LSS1 and have not seen the LSS2 on the water to see the difference. That is all you will need is the LSS module and LSS transducer and you will have the downscan and the sidescan. I ALWAYS have my HDS unit with at least half the screen on downscan. Love it.

The LSS-1 transducer has one crystal aimed down, one to the left and one to the right to get data return to draw the picture on your screen. The LSS-2 has two crystals pointing down, left and right so there is much more data to get detail from. With the added crystals and power the LSS-2 can give you readings from further away and clearer readings.

Just because it’s only $225 doesn’t make it a deal. For that price, it’s most likely the LSS transducer only, or the box only. Touch units only need the LSS transducer as no box is needed. But the other HDS units need the box, is my understanding. Make sure you know what’s in the box before you buy. All kinds of different options out there.
