Anyone using the Lowrance Touchscreens? Thinking about getting one but I am skeptical due to the fact my GEN 1 units have been very unreliable.
The Touch Units look pretty cool, but am wondering if anyone has had any issues with them.

Love mine! No issues, I have not had any issues with my Gen 1, Gen 2 or Touch’s

I’m running a 2 and had a 1 prior. I’m going to open the door, how is it unreliable?

The reason I upgraded to the Gen 2 was because of the faster start up and screen refresh time on the GPS and I added the StructureScan.

With the exception of the screen going dim and a trip to the factory with a turn around time of less then 15 days, I’ve had zero issues.

Now if your talking about Sirrius Weather…..

    Bought a 7 and 10 in ’09

    1) both had to be swapped out because they had issues reading the map chips.

    2) the 10 had to be swapped out again because it still had issues reading the map chip

3). Both units again had to be swapped out because the screens pushed in and water got in the units and caused them to fry out(lowrance acknowledged this was an issue with many early units)

4). My 10 still goes dark when I adjust the backlight.

5). Both units still “lock up” on me.

If I have to go through this again I would rather switch over to Birds. The new touch screens are pretty darn slick though. I just don’t want to deal with ruined fishing trips due to electronics issues.

    Thanks

Over 400 hours on 9, 12 touch, XM weather, point1. Only issues were solved by keeping units software up dated.
