So, if you were to have 2 gen 2 units and network them together, do u still need a map chip in both units, or can u share 1 card with both? Does it affect the answer if 1 is a touch unit and 1 not? Thanks, rolling over ideas for some new electronics on boat for next year.

Yes you can use both off 1 ducer, I have my Gen 1’s set up to share 1 ducer…

I would assume the network would be made with the orange connectors (same as structure scan)? Or would it be a nmea2000 connection?

Transducer and card sharing is accomplished via Ethernet cables.

ethernet. If you have them hooked up to an LSS-1 or LSS-2, or just ethernet from one unit to the other, you can share transducers.

Just make sure you have the latest software revision from Lowrance in each unit, Touch and Key pad take different software update. Also what map chip are you using? If you go with Navionics you get depth highlighting, shallow water shading, I would rec. the Platinum or Nav+.
Ethernet cable is all you need.

If I want to network my motor into my HDS with SS do I still need to make the NMEA back bone?

Your motor would network through a NMEA backbone network.

83/200 transducer for a touch HDS is the same as non touch isn’t it? So if you already had one, or if you bought a non touch one that came with a transducer you wouldn’t need another transducer for the touch one?(assuming one unit would connect to the US2 on a TM)

    No one transducer
