What chip works for Lowrance HDS Gen 1?

I currently have a Lakemaster ProMap Version 7 in one of my Gen 1 HDS unit which works awesome. I am looking for another chip to put into my other HDS Gen 1 unit up front. What chips are people using in these Gen 1 units? I feel the WD presentation in the Lakemaster Promap Version 7 that I currently run is spot on..even as far as the angle and length of the WDs.

I have the Navionics app on my iphone which I use for ice fishing and when playing with it on the river one day, I noticed the WD presentation on these is not the greatest with some incorrect layout, especially if there is any bend in the WD; the Navionics map on the iphone does not display these bends. If the Navionics chip for the Lowrance HDS does the same thing, I will pass on that manufacturer.

    Any suggestions? Advice?

Also, if anybody has an old chip they want to sell, please PM me. Thanks for the help guys.

I will have to check when I get home, but I am almost positive I have a 2013 Lowrance chip in one of my Gen 1 units…..

    News to me I guess!

I received a complementary 2013 Insight chip at the MWC championship last year and that particular chip will not work in a Gen 1 Unit.

Sounds like they fixed that glitch to make it compatible with all HDS units.

Are you not getting the 1’ft contours on your phone?

Check out the Navionics Web App for the latest cartography Web App

Yes, I get the 1′ contours on my phone. Tha Navionics app has replaced my Lowrance H2O. But the app is definitely not as accurate as the GPS on the HDS systems. The Navionics iPhone app has some wingdam inaccuracies and if they make a chip for the HDS and it has the same inaccuracies, I would pass on Navionics for my HDS unit.

The app is a great tool, but has flaws. Many lakes will have the contours missing or cutoff to where they do not appear. Take for example Round Lake next to Gull Lake in Brainerd. Much of the contours will not appear near the western portion of the lake for the 10′ fow and less.
