I have a 09 Reata that cgame with a HDS 5 and 7. Have been using a 09 Lakemaster Promap Woods/Rainy on one and a 06 Navionics Hot Maps North on the other. The Lakemaster is accurate, the Navionics not too accurate. My HDS7 recently went bad, got free new HDS 7 Gen 2 from Lowrance. My Gen 2 will load the Lakemaster chip, LOW will come on, but if I try to zoom in or out 3-4 times, the unit will freeze up and
shut itself off in a few seconds. Any ideas whats going on with that? I will call Lowrance tomorrow on that.
Anyways, the HDS 5 still operates the lakemaster chip okay. I would like to get another accurate chip for the HDS 7 Gen 2 for LOw. Any ideas what is working good on HDS 7 Gen 2’s for LOW? Thanks

Sounds like a head unit issue to me.

I’m not sure on LOW but my dad has a gen 2 hds7 in his boat and the lowrance hd chip is very similar to the my mn Lakemaster chip. Never scrolled over to see if it had LOW though.

I see the Lowrance Pro 2013 has LOWD’s in HD.
Maybe go to a store that sells them and have them show you on a unit. I know Cabelas does that, and sure most others too.

mine did that as well the first time or two I tried to load the maps. It hasnt done it since.

Let us know what Lowrance says.

Also it sounds like it is new are you sure you are on the latest update?

Just got off the phone with Lowrance. They say my 09 Lakemaster chip will NOT work with my Gen 2 HDS. I am now needing to order quickly either a Lowrance Insight Pro or a Lowrance Insight HD or a Navionics of some sort. Was on the Navionics sight just now and not quite sure which one to go for their high definition. Lake of the Woods, mostly Canada side is my main objective, also HD of Minnesota popular lakes would be a plus. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Blizzard go to the Web App http://www.navionics.com/en/webapp you can zoom in LOTW, then click on the sonar icon on the lower left for High Def view. Look at Nav+ you can choose various and Canada all on one chip.
