I just picked up a used (new to me boat) which had a Lowrance Sonic hub installed. I also just purchased and had a HDS7 installed as well.

The NMEA cable was not plugged in when i got it back so i plugged that in first.

Then i noticed the power light isn’t working on the Sonic hub and checked all fuses, connections appear to be in tact and correct as well.

DOes anybody have any suggestions for me to figure out how to power up the Sonic hub?

Also if it matters, my marine band radio isn’t powering up either so i’m wondering if these 2 are connected in some fashion?

When i go to the HDS7 unit i get it to say “Initializing Sonic hub but it’s not picking it up. I assume that’s because it has no power going to it?

Is the NMEA 2000 network powered up? Is there a separate
    switch for it?

not sure how to figure out if it is powered up but it is plugged in the the back of the HD7 unit and to the supporting “T” from the network

If you haven’t, also check the 15 amp micro fuse plugged into the Sonic Hub.

Check the yellow wire coming off of the power cable of the Sonic Hub. The previous owner could of had the yellow “wake up” wire from the Sonic Hub connected to the yellow wire of
    a HDS power cable.

Checked the yellow wire coming from the harness and it was connected to a green wire which was disconnected at the end.

I read another report that Lowrance recommends splicing the yellow wire to the red wire at the harness and connect both to a power wire which i did and still nothing?

does the nema net need to be powered up? if it had a LMS it was powered thru it then you need a power node.

Place a 12v battery (ice locator battery will work) near the Sonic Hub. Place the yellow/red to positive and black to ground and see if you can get the light to turn on.

    Thanks Dandorn,

That makes good sense. I’ll try that next and will report back.
