Lowrance GPS problem

    I have A Lowrance LCX-113C HD

Currently my GPS Location will not show up on my Mapping screen, everything seems to be working except for locating my boat position on the map. If I change locations my longitude and latitude numbers appear to change also, however it will not show my current boat location.
I tried the soft reset twice and it did not resolve the problem.

I have checked inline fuses.. OK

I have tried swiching the unit to a second puck…same non-response

I have tried using my front LCX-27 and get the same non-response form both the first and the second puck.

If I check the satelite status menu it shows that the system seems to be looking for satelites but can not acquire the signals.

I do not get any message that the GPS is not responding when it has power.

When I shut the power off I will then get a, GPS Module is not responding message.

I am totally confused… is it possible to have two bad pucks

Any recent wiring changes in the boat? Kind of sounds like the pucks don’t have power.

I believe they are powered, when I remove the in line fuse I immediatley get the message “GPS not responding” when I replace the fuse that message goes away.

How far away is the GPS puck from the 113? My son had a problem similar to yours and he had to have the GPS puck at least 3 feet away from the 113 to get it to work properly.

What GPS Puck/Module are you using?
There was a few (my brother included) that had 3000’s go bad.
To find out, you could always borrow one. Easy enough to try that if you know someone that would undo one quick for you.

I had to puchase a new puck.It started working immediatley after I installed it.
So the odd part of the whole deal is that I have two 3000 pucks that went bad over the winter.

That has to be rare. I know a couple of the Lowrance people and they told me they had some issues with the 3000, but two, that’s not right and I am going to let them know. I’ll let you know what their reposnce is.
Did you go with a 4000 or the Point-1?
I’ll be posting a rreport on the point in over next couple days.

I bought a 4000, I think I can network both units and use a single puck.

You can use the NMEA network to have both units use the LGC 4000 GPS puck. Hit menu twice, go down to Network and choose Data Sources. Go to GPS, hit enter. Find the LGC 4000 in the device list and choose it in each unit.
