Hello all. I just recently bought a Lowrance Structure Scan unit and I’m installing it now. I’m curious about the switch I’m suppose to install on the console. It shows it wired to a hot (+) wire. Is this to turn the unit on and off? It doesn’t say in the installation instructions. Thanks in advance.

There is no physical on/off switch for the SS module.

You have to use the yellow wire to power it. You can connect
the yellow wire to a HDS yellow wire or you can wire it direct to a switch.

If you connect it to a HDS yellow (accessory wake up) wire,
the SS module will power on when you turn on the HDS unit.

Dandorn, I have mine on a separate switch. So you don’t have to. But you can if you want too?

That is correct. It requires a “switch” to turn it on. If you run the yellow from the LSS to the yellow on the HDS, the power switch on the HDS functions as your power switch on the LSS. You never have to remember to turn on your structure scan. If you don’t run yellow to yellow, you have to run it to a switch so you have a way to turn the LSS on and off.
